What is the I-9?
Form I-9 confirms identity and work authorization for new hires. Officially, it is Employment Eligibility Verification . It is required by employers for almost all new employees in the U.S.
You complete Section 1 as the employee. Your employer completes Section 2 after reviewing acceptable documents, either one List A document, or one List B document plus one List C document.
